Sister Leola Marie Monroe
First Lady Leola Marie Monroe, known as Lady Monroe is a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was born to the late Leon J. Carruthers and LaVerne P. Carruthers.
She is married to the love of her life and best friend, Pastor Waymon L. Monroe, Jr. While obligations to ministerial commitments are a priority, Lady Monroe ensures that her other covenant relationships are well maintained. She serves as a faithful and devoted wife to her husband and loving mother to their three children: Antonio, Miosha, and Alexis.
In December 2007 Reverend Monroe along with Lady Monroe was called by God to be the pastor and first lady of Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church in the beautiful city of Winston-Salem North Carolina. Together they bring biblical wisdom, compassion, and integrity to the Solid Rock family.
As the first lady, she has coined the model for "loving on purpose" and has set an awesome example of how to grow in godliness.
Lady Monroe is an eloquent woman regarding issues on marriage and blended families. She compliments the ministry in her passion for love and is devoted to seeing the vision of Solid Rock exhibited.
She has served in several capacities as an exemplary leader and an example of a virtuous woman. She is a member of Solid Rock’s women’s ministry that works to teach, encourage, equip, empower, and guide women to the heart of God, advisor on the Deaconess Ministry, Personal Assistant to the pastor, member of the Prison Outreach and Evangelism Ministry, and a member of the Minister’s Wives & Minister’s Widow’s Ministry in the city. A ministry called “girlfriends” birthed out of the heart of First Lady Dee Griffey. A Ministry that encourages minister wives and minister widow’s to develop a more intimate relationship with Christ and advance the Kingdom of God through service within and beyond our inner circles.
Her passion is to provide a spark that will empower more Christians to stand up for righteousness.
Her prayer is that each of us will allow God to give us a vision of what our personal call to serve the ministry should be. God loves us so much, He is bound to encourage us to share that love with others.
